Estate Malbec 2021 - Bodega Colome

Malbec in recent years has become the “national” variety of Argentina, as it has received much greater recognition there than in other countries where it is grown. Estate Malbec – Bodega Colome is one of the wines that proves this, as it fully reflects the terroir of the Salta region, since the grapes come from 4 different vineyards, each at a different altitude!

The grapes are harvested from the vineyards “La Brava” at 1.700 meters altitude, “Colome” at 2.300 meters, “El Arenal” at 2.700 meters and from “Altura Maxima”, one of the highest in the world, at 3.100 meters. The first two give us intense ripe fruit and complexity, while the last two give us elegance, freshness, floral and mineral characteristics, as well as fine-grained tannins. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine remains for 15 months in 2nd to 5th year French oak barrels and then 6 more months in the bottle.

Aromas of red fruits such as raspberry and cherry, plum, notes of violet, cinnamon, licorice and minerality. In the mouth it is rich with robust tannins, high acidity, aromas of ripe black fruits, spices, vanilla and a long aftertaste.

Malbec – Bodega Colome is the wine that will pair excellent with grilled red meat, Kefalonian meat pie and aged yellow cheeses.

Like most of the estate's wines, this one also received good ratings for the 2021 vintage, with 93pts from Tim Atkin, 92pts from Vinous and Descorchados!
