There is no need to say much about Les Varonniers - M. Chapoutier because the scores it receives every year from wine critics say it all! The harvest is done by hand. Grapes are selected from the oldest vines, 60 years old and over. Fermentation takes place in small concrete tanks and the wine is aged for 14-18 months in oak barrels. On the nose, very ripe fruit, blackcurrant, raspberry and notes of licorice. On the palate, rich with notes of vanilla and jam.
The 2019 vintage received 97pts from Jeb Dunnuck, 96pts from James Suckling, 94pts from Decanter, 93pts from Wine Spectator, 92pts from Wine Advocate and 17.5pts from Jancis Robinson!
