1831 Malbec - Bodega Colome is the ultimate expression of Malbec. A wine from high altitudes, which is a tribute to the history of the estate but also to Donald Hess, the man who envisioned the production of wines in such difficult conditions. The year 1831 also refers to the year of the winery's creations.
The grapes come from the “Colome” vineyard at an altitude of 2.300 meters and vines over 100 years old, which has excellent sun exposure and shadow from the tall trees in the afternoon and so grapes remain cool and the natural acidity is preserved. Only the best and healthiest plants are selected for the grape harvest and then in the winery a very careful sorting follows to achieve the perfect result. The winemaking is carried out under the guidance of Thibaut Delmotte and then the wine remains for 18 months in new and second-use French oak barrels.
In the glass it has an intense ruby color with purple highlights and aromas of raspberry, plum, cherry, notes of spices, violet. In the mouth it is juicy, rich, round with plenty of fruit, silky texture and fruity aftertaste with notes of oak.
The 1831 Malbec - Bodega Colome for the 2018 vintage received 92pts from Vinous and 91pts from Wine Enthusiast.
A great red wine for lovers of the variety.
