The Glen Carlou Grand Classique 2021 is an exceptional example of a South African "Bordeaux blend" from the Simonsberg-Paarl region. This wine combines five classic noble varietals: primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, with supporting roles from Malbec and Petit Verdot. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (30% new) to integrate its complex flavours. 

The 2021 vintage presents a deep ruby-red color. The nose is inviting and complex, offering generous aromas of cassis, blackberry, and red cherry, complemented by elegant notes of cinnamon, spice, and a hint of cigar box. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, with fine-grained tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, rich finish with nuances of peppermint chocolate. A versatile food wine, it pairs beautifully with grilled dark meats such as cote de boeuf, braised oxtail, or rich stews.
