Macon Villages 2023 - Trenel

Macon Villages - Trenel is a 100% Chardonnay from vineyards located in the wider Maconnais region in Southern Burgundy. The experience of almost 100 years of the Trenel estate together with the knowledge and guidance of M. Chapoutier, who since 2015 has taken over the reins of the estate, has given us wines, but also liqueurs, which reflect the terroir and the character of each variety. For the appellation Macon Villages the grapes must come from one or more of the 27 villages located in the Maconnais region and it has to be only Chardonnay as for the production of rosé or red wines the producers must indicate Macon AOC and not Macon-Villages AOC in the label.

The grapes for Macon Villages - Trenel come from vineyards located in the villages of Charnay-les-Macon, Vire and the age of the vines is between 25 and 50 years old. The vineyards are located on a mixture of different soils with dominant components of clay and limestone. The alcoholic fermentation took place, for the majority of the production, in stainless steel tanks, while for about 10% it took place in oak barrels. A light filtration follows before bottling.

Its color is light gold with green highlights and it has aromas of white flowers, lemon, grapefruit, notes of green apple and minerality. In the mouth it is round, with dominant aromas of lemon and butter, fruity characteristics and a light mineral character. Long buttery aftertaste.

Ideal pairing with high-fat fish, seafood, pasta or poultry with light creamy sauces, goat cheeses.
